Vocalist. Performer. Instructor. Musician. Claire is a carnival enthusiast and is a stilt walker with Daring Arts Movement. Claire also offers private and group voice lessons!
Originally from San Jose, California, Claire’s first instrument was the trombone, which she played from fifth grade through her undergraduate education at University of California, Santa Cruz. It was there that she discovered her love of singing and went on to earn her Bachelor of Music in Operatic Vocal Performance in 2008. Claire was later awarded a scholarship to California Institute of the Arts where she did graduate studies, also in Operatic Vocal Performance.
While in Santa Cruz, Claire connected with the stilt walking community and fell in love with the art form. She has been performing with the Daring Arts Movement since 2016 and with the Samba Stilt Circus of Santa Cruz, CA from 2003-2016. Claire traveled with Polly Pepper to Trinidad and Tobago to perform with the traditional Moko Jumbie Stilt Walkers in Carnaval. Claire is also the Director of the Vocal Arts branch of D.A.M (Daring Arts Movemment) where She enjoys the challenge of teaching stilts with the DAM StiltSkool and expanding her vocal offerings in collaboration with other performers.
Group Lessons are a rich learning environment because you are both receiving coaching, and then observing other people getting coached. Observing other people being coached allows for you to apply all of those learning points to yourself without being in the hotseat. Both learning models are invaluable supplements to each other. Private Lessons are a focused one on one learning environment. Whether you have never sung before or are a seasoned professional, Claire will develop your skills with care, technique, and insight.
For little ones, Claire teaches the internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program, Music Together.
